K9 Club Supports the Troy Nature Center
K9 Club had the pleasure of participating in the Troy Nature Center 7th Annual Nature Uncorked Wine & Beer Tasting Fundraiser. The event was held on October 26, 2017, at the Troy Community Center. Guests enjoyed a wonderful evening of wine and beer samplings, delicious appetizers, wine pull raffle and a silent auction.
The mission of the Troy Nature Center is to provide resources and education and to inspire the appreciation and preservation of nature. Within the boundaries of this popular 100-acre nature preserve are two miles of trails which weave through upland forest, meadows stream-side wetland and a cattail marsh. The mission and offerings of the Troy Nature Center strike a chord in unison with K9 Club’s values towards our Troy community. Thus, when approached with an opportunity to be a part of this community-centered event, it seemed very fitting to offer our support.
K9 Club’s sponsorship included the Presenting Sponsor role in addition to donating a fun-filled basket for the silent auction. With K9 Club’s support, this event raised more than $22,000. These proceeds will help underwrite the many Troy Nature Center education programs and activities scheduled to be offered in the upcoming months at the nature center.
Zingerman’s 3rd Annual Jelly Bean Jump Up
K9 Club is a supporter of this annual fundraiser to raise money for SafeHouse Center, which offers support to those impacted by domestic violence and sexual assail. The Ann Arbor organization provides free and confidential services, including emergency shelter, counseling, legal advocacy and more.
The name Jelly Bean Jump Up refers to Zingerman’s co-founder Ari Weinzweig’s beloved Corgi, who passed away in 2015. “When Jelly Bean died I wanted to take the sadness and turn it toward something positive,” says Ari. “Something to honor her positive contribution to my life, and really the life of so many other over the years. Jelly Bean was a very special dog and such a big part of my life for so many years. And SafeHouse is an even more special cause.”
Pet’s can play a special role in the lives of those suffering domestic violence says Deborah Kern, Safehouse’s Development Director. “People experience the betrayal of domestic violence often seek the comfort and companionship they deserve from their furry family member. Dogs and cats help us relax, provide unconditional love and provide emotional healing,” she says. Sadly, it’s is also not uncommon for abusers to threaten the well being of beloved pets to control their victims, and it’s estimated that almost half of people attempting to escape abuse will decide to stay because they are afraid of what will happen to their pets if they leave.
When you make a contribution to the Jelly Bean Jump Up fundraiser, you are helping to ease the roadblock because, in addition to all their other life-saving services, SafeHouse Center works with the local organization to provide free boarding to pets, so that survivors don’t have to have this added anxiety.
Donations to the Jelly Bean Jump Up fundraiser will help keep programs and services like these 100 percent free of charge for all survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.
We love this organization and believe that the work they do makes our communities safer. Everyone deserves to live their life free of fear.
K9 Club Proudly Sponsors Howell Highlanders
K9 Club is proud to sponsor the Howell Highlanders, who demonstrated hard work and made it all the way to Cooperstown, New York. Congratulations!
The mission statement for the Howell Highlanders is to provide player development at a higher competitive level for Howell youth, with a focus on community pride.
Physical exercise is great for the mind, body, and spirit. Team sports help young adults develop their accountability, dedication, leadership and social skills to name a few. Sponsorship helps directly reduce the costs for players. With lower costs, more families are able to afford to sign up. That means that more children are able to receive the many benefits of sports. Funds go directly to uniforms, equipment, and field maintenance.
K9 Club values the opportunity to support the youth in our local communities.
