Overview
You’re learned by ow that dog behavior is on a continuum. It is important to understand that aggressive behavior doesn’t mean that dog itself is aggressive. We like to talk about this as “good moments, bad moments” for dogs. Just as you might be happy one moment and then a little bit upset or angry another moment, dogs have those same good moment, bad moment tendencies. So the dog overall is not necessarily aggressive, but the dog may have moments where he’s showing an aggressive display. There are a wide range of aggressive displays, all of them are critical parts of the communication for dogs. Some displays are completely appropriate for the situation.
